Eugene Bullard: A Black Expatriate in Jazz-Age Paris

The Association Française de Tallahassee and the Foreign Language Department of FAMU invite you to attend a talk by Professor Craig Lloyd.

Dr. Lloyd, professor-emeritus of history at Columbus State University, is author of Eugene Bullard: Black Expatriate in Jazz-Age Paris, a little-known African-American who was a member of the Foreign Legion, recipient of the Légion d'Honneur, and a prize-fighter, musician, and promoter in "Harlem in Montmartre" between the First and Second World Wars.

L'Association Française de Tallahassee et la Faculté des langues de FAMU vous invitent à une conférence animée par le Professeur Craig Lloyd, auteur de "Eugene Bullard : A Black Expatriate in Jazz-Age Paris". Il va nous parler de cet Afro-américain peu connu qui s'engagea dans la légion étrangère, reçut la Légion d'Honneur, fut boxeur professionnel et musicien et promut "Harlem à Montmartre" entre les deux guerres mondiales.

Dr. Lloyd est professeur émérite d'histoire à Columbus State University.

The Association Française de Tallahasse is now offering a monthly, informal film course for members only. We will watch the films in French with English subtitles.     • Would you like to converse in French? If so, join us for informal French conversation in a relaxed setting. The Association Française de Tallahasse organizes a French discussion group for members that meets on a monthly basis in the early evening at Chez Pierre and at the Black Dog Café.
